Many of our patients see a reduction of pain and an increase in their range of motion after just a few visits and sometimes after just the first visit.
We find that our patient’s bodies and the spine in particular have been in a state of misalignment or poor health for months or even years. The most common reaction to spinal manipulation is aching or soreness in the spinal joints or muscles. If this aching or soreness occurs, it is usually within the first few hours post-treatment and does not last longer than 24 hours after the chiropractic treatment.
This is a normal occurrence in the process of bringing your body back to a healthy state. This is the same as getting a little sore when you exercise or use muscles that you don’t exercise on a usual basis. Anytime we subject our body to motions that it is not used to, tenderness can sometimes result. You will find that your body will “adjust to your adjustments” very quickly and the soreness will fade within a short time.
We remind our patients that chiropractic care is not a quick-fix, but a commitment to a healthier lifestyle and well-being. Except as the result of an accident, your body and spine usually obtains a gradual state of poor health and misalignment and takes some time to get accustomed to being in a healthy state.
If you feel that you have more discomfort than seems normal, we ask that you contact our office immediately for consultation and follow up. It is our goal to provide you with the most effective healthcare experience in modern medicine today.
